Obituary of Edward Babuska

Edward Stephan Babuska, 83 of 23 Ann Street St. Johnsville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday October 9, 2004. He was born June 2, 1921 in Little Falls the son of the late Jan & Elizabeth (Matis) Babuska, and was educated in Little Falls schools. His marriage to Mary Osipovich took place on January 19, 1946 at the Grace Congregational United Church of Christ in St. Johnsville. Mr. Babuska was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, enlisting on August 10, 1942 and was honorably discharged on November 22, 1945 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. While serving his country he received the following medals; American Theater of Operations Medal & World War II Victory Medal. Ed was last employed at Beech-nut in Canajoharie. Prior to that her worked many years at the former Palatine Dye Co. in St. Johnsville where held the position of supervisor. Mr. Babuska was a member of the Grace Congregational United Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary, 2 daughters; Sharon Fuller of St. Johnsville, & Deanna Campione and husband Fred of St. Johnsville, 2 sons; Peter Babuska and wife Donna of Campbell, California & Edward Babuska and wife Yvette of St. Helen?s Oregon, a brother; Emil Babuska and wife Betty of Portland, Oregon, 5 grandchildren; Gregory & Matthew Campione, Michael Babuska & Kyle & Stacy Babuska, 1 great grandson, Dustin Smith and several nieces & nephews and in-laws; Gladys Marvin of Arizona, Anne Cecconi of Little Falls & Loretta Sawchuk of Mill Hall, Pa. He was pre-deceased by a brother, John Babuska & 4 sisters; Emily Viparina, Bett Reynolds, Ann Ortmeyer, & Sue Daniels. Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 14, 2004 at 11:00 am from the Smith ? Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY with Reverend Wayne Cole, pastor of the Grace Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls, NY. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Wednesday October 13, 2004 from 6-8 pm. All memorial contributions may be made to either the St. Johnsville Volunteer Fire Department or to S.A.V.A.C. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
