Obituary of Edith Bates

Edith M. Bates, 91 of 138 ? South Main Street, Dolgeville passed away on Tuesday December 14, 2004 at Little Falls Hospital. She was born May 10, 1913 in the Town of Fairfield, the daughter of the late Arthur J. & Stella M. (Mower) Lynch. Edith was educated in the local schools and lived many years in the Dolgeville area. Edith was first married to Harry A. Doxstader who passed away in 1947. She was later married to Omer Bates who pre-ceded her in death. Mrs. Bates was employed at the Little Falls Hospital until her retirement. After retiring she did housekeeping for homes in the area. Edith was of the catholic faith. With family as her foremost priority, Edith proved herself as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed taking care of her family and extended family with unconditional love. Edith enjoyed baking for her family and was noted for her apple pies and fried potatoes. Survivors include her children, Betty Long of Utica, Richard ?Dick? Doxstader and wife Barb of Birmingham, Alabama, twin daughters, Sandy Frederick of Dolgeville, & Susan Ferguson of Dolgeville and Janet Balderston and husband Kenneth of Little Falls; a brother, Clyde Lynch of the Town of Ohio; 2 sisters, Beulah Saltsman of Little Falls, & Veronica Richards and husband Howard of Little Falls, 15 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews, and her friend and companion of 50 years, LaMont L. Williams of Dolgeville. She was pre-deceased by 5 brothers, Leon, Thomas, Floyd, Leslie & Raymond Lynch, 2 sisters, Cecelia Warmuth & Hazel Moody, a grandson Scott Doxstader, great granddaughter, Lauren Stephenson and a son-in-law Donald Frederick. In keeping with Edith?s wishes funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Roberts ? Buck Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave., Dolgeville, NY. In lieu of flowers all memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner?s Hospital, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA. 02114.
