Obituary of Elizabeth Bonilla

Mrs. Elizabeth Macri Bonilla, age 79, of 249 South Main Street, Herkimer, passed away on Sunday November 14, 2004 at the Little Falls Hospital. She was born on June 25, 1925 in Herkimer, a daughter of the late Antonio & Lucia (Biase) Macri. Elizabeth was also predecased by Teresa Macri, who was just like a second mom to her. She was educated in Herkimer schools and had been a lifelong area resident. On November 13, 1947, she joined in marriage with Antonio Bonilla, a loving relationship of 49 years. The couple had exchanged their vows at St. Anthony's Church in Herkimer with Fr. Gustav Purificato officiating. Mr. Bonilla passed away on April 11, 1996. Elizabeth had last worked with Mohawk Data Sciences in Herkimer. She had also at one time worked with Derby Sportswear and General Electric. She also did an excellent job as a waitress for several different places in the Herkimer and surrounding areas. Elizabeth loved to travel. She also donated much of her time performing charity work for those in need, and thru this gained so much respect from her friends and loved ones. One of her favorite pasttimes was that of walking, and was seen many times walking around, especially in Herkimer, in her friendly way. Elizabeth was a beautiful woman and took great pride in her appearance. She was often times admired for her beauty from head to toe, often showcased by the many elegant outfits that she would wear. She was a unique and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt. Most of all, her family will miss the closeness that they all shared; memories that Elizabeth helped make ever so special. She is survived by her beloved family including her cherished son: Mark A. Bonilla of Herkimer; her beautiful granddaughters whom she loved dearly: Ashley Elizabeth Bonilla and Julianna Marie Bonilla; her sisters: Catherine Parise of Phoenix, AZ; Anna Smith of Liverpool; Clara Potenza of Frankfort; Mary Patrocca of Amsterdam; Lucy Losito of Herkimer; Rita Varano and her husband Fran of Herkimer; and Frances Talarico of Broadalbin; a sister in law: Marilyn Macri of Herkimer; and many loved and cherished nieces nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers: Nick Macri, Anthony "Sonny" Macri, Peter Macri, and sisters: Antoinette Costello and Carmella Furlong. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 17, 2004 at 9:00 AM at the Holleran - Enea Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, and at 9:30 AM from the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph, South Main Street Herkimer where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, Pastor. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer.
