Obituary of Leroy Boyer

Mr. LeRoy E. Boyer, age 86 of 314 Shedd Road, Dolgeville, NY, died on Saturday August 28, 2004 at his residence of natural causes. He was born in Dolgeville on March 5, 1918 the son of Irving and Maggie (Walrath) Boyer and was educated in school in Dolgeville. A Veteran of WWII, he served honorably in the United States Army from January 1941 until his discharge in November 1945. He served with Company II 262nd Infantry as a Technician 3rd Grade, in Central Europe, and Rhineland. His military decorations included the American Defense Service Medal, American Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. His marriage to the former Joce P. Wainwright took place on June 3, 1947 in the Presbyterian Manse in Dolgeville, the ceremony was performed by the Rev. Ernest Houghton. Mrs. Boyer predeceased him on December 7, 2003. Mr. Boyer was employed by the Lane Construction Company of Fonda, as a master mechanic, retiring from there in 1980. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Dolgeville #921 and transferred his membership to the Little Falls Post when they merged. Also, he was a member of the Engineers Union #106. Surviving him are his sons and their wives: Glen & JoAnn Boyer of Salisbury, Joseph and Joyce Boyer of Dolgeville; his daughters and their husbands: Judy and Forbes Carmen and Marie and Charles Gressler, all of Dolgeville, and Linda and Mare Dearwester of Orange City, Fla.; a brother and his wife Irving and Carol Boyer Jr. of Stratford; his grandchildren: Justin, Ashley, Brett, Crystal, Jeremy, Scott, Renee, Amy, Katherine and Abbey; his great grandchildren: Kathryn, Krista and Kyle, N&N> Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 1, 2004 at 11 AM at the Roberts-Buck Funeral Home, 3 Faville Avenue, Dolgeville. The Rev. James Paulson of the United Lutheran - Presbyterian Church of Dolgeville will officiate. Burial will be in Salisbury Rural Cemetery. Calling hours are on Tuesday August 31, 2004 from 4-7 PM.
