Obituary of Carl Bunce

Carl R. Bunce, age 61, of 3753 State Rt. 5, died Wednesday, December 8, 2004, at Faxton Hospital, Utica. He was born on August 5, 1943 in Schuyler, at home, the son of Lynn and Alice (Moss) Bunce. He attended Frankfort-Schuyler School. On August 7, 1965, he was married to Pauline F. Gonyea at St. Mark's Church, Utica. He grew up on a dairy farm, which he owned and operated before his employment at the Schuyler Thruway Service Station, where he worked at the gas station and restaurant. He later worked at Jacob's Auto & Towing in Schuyler. Most recently, he was employed by the Town of Schuyler Highway Dept. as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1997. Carl enjoyed hunting, camping, gardening, fishing, doing puzzles, playing cards and bingo, and old-time country music. Survivors include his wife, Pauline; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Robin Lynn Juliano and her husband, Benedict Sr. of Schuyler, and Tina Higgins and her husband, Christopher of Ilion; three grandchildren, Daniel Briggs, James Doolen and Christopher Doolen; mother and father-in-law, Eva and Larry King of Utica; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, great-aunts and uncles; and longtime close friends, "Gomer" Emrich and Peter Kravec; and special cousins, Donnie and Dougie Blaise. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Nancy Price; and a dear cousin, Paul Bunce. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Memorial Service at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 11, 2004, at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with Pastor Jack Cogar officiating.
