Ersilia "Elsie" Castrucci, 81, of 4 Lion Place, St. Johnsville, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. She was born November 7, 1922, in St. Johnsville, the daughter of the late Giustino (Gus) and Filomena (Iagnocco) Castrucci. Elsie was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School, class of 1941, and the Utica School of Commerce. Miss Castrucci was a life member of St. Patrick's Church and its Altar Rosary Society, and was an honorary member of the New York State Sheriff's Association, Palatine Settlement Society and the St. Johnsville Senior Saints. For many years, she opened the senior meetings with the Lord' Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance Salute to the Flag. Elsie was a patron and avid reader of the Margaret Reaney Memorial Library. She is survived by her loving sister, Alessandra (Alicia) Castrucci-Knapp, residing in New York City; many loving cousins, Marguerite Vacca of St. Johnsville, Pierre Iagnocco of Whitesboro, Frank Iagnocco of Flowersville, Michigan, Mary Ann Pacitto of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Paul Castrucci of Burlington, Vermont; and many friends. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 1, at 10 a.m. from the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, and at 10:30 a.m. from St. Patrick's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow at St. Johnsville Cemetery.
