Obituary of Edwin Catroppa
Edwin R. Catroppa, 87, a lifelong Herkimer resident, entered into eternal rest on Friday morning, September 24, 2004 in Valley Health Services, Herkimer. He joined his wife Stella (Lukomski) Catroppa in Heaven who passed away on September 10, 2003. He was born on July 7, 1917 in Herkimer a son of the late Adam and Louise (Pastello) Catroppa and was educated in Herkimer schools. He joined hands in marriage with the former Stella Lukomski on August 24, 1940 in St Joseph's Church, Herkimer. Each of them was deeply dedicated to the other's well-being and happiness throughout their 63 years of marriage. Edwin was the owner and operator of Edwin R. Catroppa's Real Estate located in Herkimer. Over the course of his 25-year career, he earned the respect and affection of both his colleagues and the many people her served. He was a member of the Church of Sts. Anthony and Joseph, Herkimer. An exemplary family man, Edwin considered his loved ones to be his foremost priority and his greatest happiness. In his earlier years he was an accomplished basketball coach, coaching both a Semi-Pro team and CYO teams. He loved fishing and was a tremendous Yankee Fan. Survivors include two loving daughters, Diane Catroppa of Herkimer and Elaine Kuhn and husband Gary of Cary, North Carolina, a sister, Amelia Lukomski of East Herkimer, two grandchildren, Erika Kuhn of Arlington, Va and Travis Kuhn of Vienna, VA, many nieces, nephews, and special cousins including Joseph and Frances Catroppa of Herkimer. Edwin was predeceased by his sister, Mary Viscomi. The family would like to acknowledge Edwin's "special visitors" Joseph Catroppa, Francesca Catroppa, Bo Tangorra, Pat Moschetto and Chappy Surace who were all a great comfort to him. The Catroppa's extend their deepest and sincerest gratitude to Cindy and Duffy Reese who have been their family angels. Also, a special thank you to the staff at Claxton Manor and Valley Health Services, both of Herkimer for their tender love and care. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, on Sunday, September 26, 2004 from 5-7 p.m. Edwin's funeral will commence on Monday morning, Sept. 27, at 9:30 am from the chapel of the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home where prayer will be offered and at 10 am from the Church of Sts. Anthony and Joseph, South Main St.., Herkimer where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor. Michael Moschetto and Lucy Giffune will offer music. Funeral procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer where he will be laid rest with his wife Stella.
