Obituary of Regina Daley
Mrs. Regina B. "Jean" Daley, 91, a longtime resident of Pullman Street in Herkimer, passed away on Thursday evening March 18, 2004, at Folts Homes in Herkimer. She was born on March 9, 1913, in Tupper Lake, the daughter of the late Joseph and Philomena Bernier. She began her education in Tupper Lake schools and later went on to attend St. Francis de Sales in Herkimer. On March 28, 1937, Jean joined in marriage with Howard J. Daley at St. Francis de Sales in Herkimer with Father Sullivan officiating. The couple shard in a loving union for over 60 years until the passing of Howard on Oct. 15 1997. Jean had last been employed with Jonell's Clothing Factory in Herkimer. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer. Jean lived her life as a loving wife and mother. The needs of others were always placed before her own. She was admired by her family for this, and will always live on in their hearts. Survivors include her beloved family including three daughters, June Scaparo and her husband Charles of Herkimer, Janet Maphia of Ilion, and Charles Taffi of Washington; one son, Renny Daley and wife Sunie of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Leona Morra and her husband Rocco of Herkimer; five grandchildren, John Scaparo and Connie, Mark Scaparo and Erin, Michael Maphia and Ivy, Roger Taffi and Linda and Ronald Taffi; 11 great grandchildren, Stephen, Katrina, Kaitlyn, Sean, Sarah, Todd, Hannah, Ian, Benjamin, Anthony and Justin; a sister in law, Ruth Bernier of Frankfort and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters, Stella and Mae and brothers, Leonard, Henry, Richard, Gene and Frank, and a son in law, Michael J. Maphia. Funeral services will be held on Monday March 22, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, and at 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church, N. Bellinger St., Herkimer, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor. Interment will take place later this spring at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 only. Contributions in memory of Jean may be considered to the American Kidney Foundation. Envelopes may be obtained from the funeral home. The family extends a special thank you to Faxton Hospital third and fourth floors for the kindness, patience and loving care offered.
