Obituary of John Foley
Mr. John K. Foley, 83, of 111 Dickie Ave., beloved husband of Alberta "Bert" Foley, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday evening, January 21, 2004 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica. He was born on February 8, 1920 in Little Falls, a son of the late John T. and Celia (Hartnett) Foley. He was raised and educated in Little Falls. He obtained a degree from Syracuse University. On January 21, 1983, John was united in marriage with the former Alberta "Bert" Anderson in St. Johnsville at the St. John's Reformed Church. He was a proud and well decorated U.S. Veteran serving with the Marine Corps. and was honorable discharged on October 17, 1945. He was last employed with All State Insurance in Herkimer retiring in 1982 after 29 years of dedicated service. He was of the Catholic Faith, a life member of the Herkimer V.F.W. Post #4915 and a life member of the Little Falls Elk's Lodge #42. Survivors include his beloved wife Bert of Herkimer, two sons, Michael Foley of Rochester, and Kenneth Foley of Mass., a daughter, Patricia Foley of Mass., two step children, Alice Hammond and husband Robert of Stone Arabia, and Stanley Anderson and wife Crispy who reside on Long Island, a sister, Geraldine LeFebvre and husband Raymond of Herkimer, five step grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, on Friday (today) from 5-7 p.m. John's funeral will commence at 9:15 am on Saturday morning, Jan. 24, 2004 from the chapel of the Enea Funeral Home, Little Falls, where prayer will be offered, thence to Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Sts., where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am by the Rev. Thomas Vail. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer, where he will be laid to rest in the family plot. Full military honors will be accorded. Kindly consider contributions in honor of John to the Herkimer County Humane Society, envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home. The family would like to offer their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center for their care and compassion shown. Members of the Herkimer V.F.W. Post #4915 are asked to gather at the funeral home on Friday evening at 6:30 to conduct their service. Members of the Little Falls Elks Lodge #42 will gather at the funeral home at 6:00 on Friday to conduct their service. Funeral arrangements are by the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer.
