Obituary of Cecil Gonyea

Cecil H. Gonyea, 92 of the Folts Home (Claxton Manor), and formerly of Queensbury, NY and Monroe, Michigan, passed away on Friday November 19, 2004 at Little Falls Hospital. He was born June 10, 1912 in Brandon, NY the son of the late Henry & Louise (Rockwell) Gonyea. Cecil was a graduate of N. Bangor High School and furthered his education at Cornell University. He was first married to Erma Marshall in 1932. Later he married Ella West in 1955, after her death he married AdaMay Terry in 1991 who preceded him in death. Mr. Gonyea was last employed at General Motors in Detroit, Michigan retiring in 1976. At one time he was employed at Brown ? Reynolds Lumber Co. in New York, Alcoa Aluminum in New York, Rutland RR Co. in Vermont, Remington Arms in New York, E.I Dupont in New Jersey, Navy Yard in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Remington Tabulator in New York, Ford Motor Co. in Michigan, Burroughs Adding Machine in Michigan, and Civil Aeronautic Administration in Anchorage, Alaska. Cecil was of the Protestant Faith, and was active entertaining people by playing his seven musical instruments and singing for the residents in the Folts Home and county nursing homes and senior citizen residents. Survivors include his six children, Betty Buchinski and husband Walter of East Herkimer, Richard Gonyea and wife Vita of Frankfort, Kenneth Gonyea and wife Marilyn of Rochester, Joyce Maytan and husband Walter of East Herkimer, and Cecile Nichols of Callaway, Florida, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews. He was pre-deceased by two sons, Lloyd Gonyea and Frederick Gonyea. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 23, 2004 at 10:30 am at Wakeman Chapel at Folts Homes, 104 N. Washington St., Herkimer, with Reverend David Oertel, officiating. Friends and relatives may call at the Holleran ? Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, on Monday November 22, 2004 from 5-8 pm. All memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Claxton Manor. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
