Obituary of Francis Grau

Francis J. "Sonny" Grau, 85 of 250 Loomis Street, Little Falls passed away on Monday December 13, 2004 at Little Falls Hospital. He was born on March 2, 1919 in Little Falls the son of the late Frank and Catherine (Donovan) Grau. Sonny was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy, Class of 1937. His marriage to Molly Anderson took place on June 19, 1943 at St. Mary's Church in Little Falls. Mr. Grau was a World War II Army veteran, enlisting on January 20, 1942 and was honorably discharged on November 21, 1945 with the rank of Sergeant. For almost 30 years, Sonny was employed at the Little Falls School District as Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds. Mr. Grau was a member of the Holy Family Parish Church and was a former member of the Steve Stefula VFW. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Molly; a son John F. Grau and his wife Cynthia of Little Falls; a daughter Monica Palowich and husband Joseph of Rotterdam, NY., 2 sisters, Rita Klimacek of Utica, and Mary Zambri and husband John of Little Falls; 3 grandchildren, Rebecca Leggieri, Joseph Palowich, Jr., and Eric Grau; 2 great grandchildren, Olivia and Gabriel Leggieri and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Edmund Grau. Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 16, 2004 at 10:15 am from the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, NY and at 11:00 am from Holy Family Parish Church with reverend Anthony Ligato, pastor celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Wednesday December 15, 2004 from 5-8 pm. All memorial contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer Association or the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
