Obituary of Charles Guyer

Charles J. Guyer, 93, formerly of Ilion, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, in Elmira. He was born June 14, 1911, in Frankfort, the son of Clarence and Mary (Sorenson) Guyer. Charles was employed as an expediter at the Remington Rand Co., Ilion, for over 30 years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose of Elmira-Horseheads and was a recipient of the Pilgrim Degree. Charles was also a life member of the S.L.A. of the American Legion Post 443 of Elmira. Survivors include his two daughters, Dolores "Dee" Richardson and her husband David of Ilion and Yvonne Sade and her husband Fritz of Pittsburgh, Pa.; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Virginia Guyer of Elmira. He was predeceased by two grandsons, Bud Leuenberger and Fred Sade, one sister, Flora Guyer and one brother, LeRoy Guyer. A graveside committal service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 9, at 3 p.m. at the Oak View Cemetery, Frankfort, under the direction of funeral directors John Day and Kevin Enea with Pastor Jack Cogar officiating. The immediate family entrusted arrangements and supervision of the graveside services to the Applegate and Day Funeral Home, Ilion and the Enea Family Funeral Home, Frankfort.
