Obituary of Douglas Harrad
Mr. Douglas A. Harrad, age 62, a former longtime resident of Ilion, and most recently of Sebastian, Florida; passed away unexpectedly on Friday May 16, 2004 in Sebastian, Florida. He was born on October 3, 1941 in Fairfield, NY, the son of the late Harry & Minnie (Mosenteen) Harrad, and was a graduate of Westmoreland High School. He had obtained college credentials, and on July 1, 1959 had enlisted with the United States Marine Corps. Following his dedicated service to our country, Mr. Harrad was awarded an honorable discharge, and upon relief from active duty held the rank of Lance Corporal. Douglas joined in marriage with Celine Ouimet on November 16, 1968, a loving union of over 35 years. He was a foreman with Remington Arms in Ilion, having retired from there after 29 years of service. He belonged to the Elk's Club, the Moose Lodge, and was a lifetime member of the Ilion/Frankfort VFW. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Celine of Sebastian, Florida; his children: a son: Douglas Harrad, Jr., and daughters: Karen Randle and Maureen Maule; his step children: Cheryl Wright and husband Mark of Weedsport, NY; Ronald Rowland and wife Rose of Johnstown; and Christine Lane of Syracuse; his brothers: Jack Whitney of Canajoharie; and Dick Whitney and his wife Jessi of Fairfield; his sisters: Evelyn Fallis of Little Falls; and June Garlock of Fairfield; along with 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; and several beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loyal friends. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister: Betty Whitney; his brother Bob Harrad; and his brothers in law: John Garlock and Ted Fallis. Funeral services were previously held in Florida. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to offer their condolences to Doug's family on Thursday June 3, 2004 from 6 - 9 PM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street Between Ilion & Frankfort. Prayers will be offered at the conclusion of the visitation, along with flag presentation and military rites offered by the US Marine Corps. Final committal services will take place at the convenience of the family at Saratoga National Cemetery. Those wishing are asked to consider donations in memory of Doug to a charity of one's choice.
