Obituary of Nicholas Holowka

Mr. Nicholas Holowka, age 68, of 1520 Kemble Street, Utica, and a former resident of Herkimer, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday September 4, 2004 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. He was born on August 17, 1936, in New York City, a son of the late John and Olga (Sierant) Holowka. He was a high school graduate, having received his education in Michigan schools. Nick was a veteran of the United States Army, having served our country from 1961 - 1962. Nick had last worked full time with the City of Dearborn, Michigan, and at one time had served as a guard and policeman for the United States Capitol. Nick's friendly smile will be missed, and could be seen much of the time in Herkimer where he truely enjoyed walking and visiting with others. He is survived by his three brothers and sisters in law: Jerry Holowka and his wife Carolyn of Garden City, Michigan; Orest Holowka and his wife Angeline of Chevy Chase, Maryland; and Walter Holowka and his wife Alice of Farmington Hills, Michigan; along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother: Daniel Holowka. A private family funeral service was held this morning, Wednesday September 8, 2004 at the Holy Trinity Monastery, Jordanville, where interment also took place. Arrangements are under the guidance of the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street between Ilion & Frankfort (894-8000).
