Obituary of Arthur Houle

Arthur Houle, 50, of 121 H. Gray Rd., Fort Plain, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, after a brief illness. Art was born on Little Falls on November 8, 1953, the son of the late Arthur J. and Bessie (Strobeck) Houle, and was educated in Stratford school. His marriage to the former Shirley Ropeter took place on May 27, 1972, in the Little Falls Methodist Church. He was employed by the custodial staff at SUNY Albany until his illness caused him to leave in March of this year. Art was of the Methodist faith, and personally enjoyed antique car shows and playing his guitar with family and friends. Surviving him is his wife Shirley; a son, James Houle at home; a daughter and her husband, Theresa and Kenneth Bowley of Fort Plain; a brother, William Houle of Kansas; two sisters, Sharon Houle of Schenectady and Shirley Burdick, a resident of St. Luke's Nursing Home; his grandsons, William Smith, Andrew Smith and Robert Bowley; his nieces, Wanda, Lavonne, Christine, Kathy and Billy Jean; and a nephew, William. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Roberts-Buck Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave., Dolgeville. Burial will follow in Curtis Cemetery, town of Salisbury.
