Obituary of Olga Jaworski

Mrs. Olga Jaworski, most recently of Belaire Health Care, Gastonia, N.C., and prior to that, one of the first residents of Carillon of Cramer Mountain, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 3, 2004. Mrs. Jaworski was a daughter of the late Anton and Marion Olsen Christensen. "O.J." she was lovingly nicknamed by the Carillon staff because of her sweet personality and the fact that she had just moved from sunny Florida in 1999. She was born and raised in Little Falls all her active years. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School and Oneonta State University in preparation for her lifetime service (38 years) as a dedicated elementary teacher. She was also a devoted wife of a prominent businessman from St. Johnsville. She was married to Joseph J. Jaworski on August 17, 1937. They led a busy, fulfilling life together until Joseph's death on December 27, 1977. They were married for 40 years, had one daughter and remained active in their community and church. The church she attended was St. Patrick's Catholic Church, also in St. Johnsville. They had just retired to Florida and reunited with their professional daughter, Dr. Janis J. Jaworski, in the mid-1970s when Joe preceded Olga in death. As a widow she made Florida her new home and lived a spirit-filled life for another 24 years before relocating to the Piedmont region of North Carolina to be close to her daughter and family. Olga came from a family of eight, first-generation Danish Americans. One sister survives her, Elesa C. West, 95, of Rome. Her only daughter, "Dr. Jan." and loyal son-in-law, Bruce A. Randall, plus her sole, cherished granddaughter, Rebecca "Becky" Randall, of Belmont, N.C., and a recent graduate of South Point High School, also survive her. Olga will be sorely missed by these close family members and the many widespread friends she made in her lifetime. However, they are comforted in knowing their beloved mother, "Nana," sister, aunt, friend and teacher is now joyously celebrating with our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Dr. Richard Boyce will conduct a funeral service in the Bumgardner Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont on Tuesday, June 8, at 3 p.m. Calling hours were held today. Olga will be buried alongside her husband, parents and sister at Inghams Mills Cemetery following a brief graveside service there on June 15. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the "OJ Tutoring Scholarship Fund," established to assist the learning delayed and disabled students of The Learning Center of Belmont, 34 Woodrow Ave., Belmont, NC 28012. Local arrangements are made by the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, St. Johnsville.
