Obituary of Rexford Johnson
Rexford ?Rex? Johnson, 76 of Little Falls, passed away on Sunday June 6, 2004 at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, with his loving wife by his side. He was born June 15, 1927 in Little Falls the son of the late Carl & Phila (Ingraham) Johnson. Rex attended Little Falls schools and lived most of his life in the Little Falls area. His marriage to Julia Doyle took place on March 27, 1948 at the Herkimer Methodist Church. Mr. Johnson was a United States Air Force veteran, enlisting on April 3, 1946 and was honorably discharged on October 22, 1947 with the rank of Corporal. Rex was last employed at Becker?s Garage in Little Falls as an auto body repairman and mechanic for 30 years, retiring in 1990. At one time he worked at Remington Arms & Chicago Pneumatic. Rex was an active man who enjoyed Bowling and woodworking. In his leisure he liked to read. Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Julia, his sisters-in-law; Sylvia Barringer of Richfield Springs, Tillie Doyle of Little Falls, Patricia Eckler of Herkimer, Fannie Doyle of Richfield Springs & Jean Doyle of California, several nieces, nephews & cousins including 2 special nieces; Carolyn Buck of Ilion & Shirley Campbell of Hinkley. He was pre-deceased by a brother; Ronald Johnson and his brothers-in-law; Robert Barringer, Richard Eckler, & Herman & Edward Doyle, and LeRoy and Elizabeth Wells. Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 10, 2004 at 1:00 pm from the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, NY. Burial will follow at Curtis Cemetery, Town of Salisbury. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Wednesday June 9, 2004 from 4-7 pm. All memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Herkimer Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff at Little Falls Hospital, ICU, St. Elizabeth?s Medical Center ICU, and Special Care Unit and the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home for their excellent care and compassion shown to Rex and his family, and a special thank you to Dr. Adamson and Dr. Karchare.
