Mrs. Doris (Wood) Keefe, 74 passed away on Wednesday afternoon, May 19, 2004 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, 4th floor, Ilion. She was born on December 29, 1929 in Utica, a daughter of the late George and Iva (Snyder) Wood and was a graduate of the Marcy State School of Nursing. She was first united in marriage with the late James M. Dunn, Jr. She was united in marriage with the late Francis Keefe in 1974. Doris's last professional employment was with the Marcy State School of Nursing where she proudly held the position of head nurse. She retired in 1980 after 29 years of dedicated and loyal service. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, loved animals and truly enjoyed being with people. Survivors include two sons, James Dunn, III and wife Karen of Little Falls and Bruce Dunn and wife Theresa of Missouri, her sisters, Esther Roberts and Margaret Wood, both of Forestport, four grandchildren Melissa, Christopher, Michelle, and Cory and several great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, Paul, Carl and Kenneth Wood. There will be no public visitation or funeral service. In keeping with the wishes of Doris, cremation will take place under the direction of the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street between Ilion and Frankfort, (894-8000). Interment will be held at the family's convenience in Beachwood Cemetery, Forestport. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the 4th Floor of Mohawk Valley Nursing Home for their care and compassion shown to Doris.
