Obituary of John Kovac

Mr. John M. Kovac, age 67, of 448 Otsego Street, Ilion, passed away on Thursday October 7, 2004 at his home. He was born on October 6, 1937 in New York City, son of the late Stephen and Suzanna (Zguris) Kovac. John was a graduate of West Canada Valley Central School, Class of 1954. He had been a resident of the Ilion area since 1988. He had last worked with Victory Markets, based in Norwich, NY as an inventory clerk. At one time he had also worked with Blue Line Taxi as a dispatcher. He was a Board Member of the American Cancer Society and was a member of the Lost Chord Club. He is survived by three daughters: Cynthia DeLong of Utica, Kim Bowman and her husband David of Ilion, and Dawn Marie Kovac of Long Island; three sisters: Ann Pargansky of Ilion; Elizabeth Bugaj of Little Falls; and Mildred Walach of Ilion; two brothers: Stephan Kovac of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, and Paul M. Walach of Florida; six grandchildren: Andrew Phillips; Jennifer Ferguson, Christopher DeLong, Christina DeLong, George "Rick" Graulich, and Kattressa Schraeder; two great grandchildren: Robert & Angelina; a very special aunt: Elizabeth Kryc of Ilion; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his uncle: Joseph Kryc, his stepfather: Paul M. Walach, Sr., a brother in Law: Stephen Pargansky, a niece Susan Pargansky; two nephews: David Pargansky and Ziggy Bugaj; and his second wife: Sandra Kovac. Funeral services will be held on Monday October 11, 2004 at 10:00 AM at the chapel of the Enea Family Funeral Home, with procession to follow to Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls, where interment will take place. Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Sunday, Oct. 10 from 5 - 8 PM. Those wishing are asked to consider donations in memory of John to the American Cancer Society.
