Obituary of Raymond Krester

Raymond E. (Catman) Krester, 60 a long time St. Johnsville resident, passed away unexpectedly on Monday August 30, 2004. He was born February 12, 1944 in Little Falls the son of the late Raymond & Grace (Putman) Kretser and was educated in St. Johnsville area schools. He was employed at Helmont Mills in St. Johnsville. For 27 years he worked at Adirondack Knitting in Amsterdam. Raymond was of the Protestant faith and was a member of the Sprite Club. With family as his foremost priority, Ray proved himself as a loving and caring father and grandfather. An avid sportsman, Ray enjoyed watching baseball games, especially the New York Yankees. Survivors include a son, Jarrod Kretser of Belleview, Florida;4 daughters, Jackie DeVost and husband Steven of Beaufort, SC, Jill Hime and husband Todd of Belleview, Florida, Julie Kretser and friend Paul Drake of Little Falls, & Jodi Darrow and husband Joseph of Belleview, Florida; 3 sisters, Marlene Hotaling and husband Paul of St. Johnsville, Lena Campione of Little Falls, and Dawn Millington and husband Ron of St. Johnsville; 6 grandchildren, Jordan Kretser, Carly Drake, Madison DeVost, Evan DeVost, Nathan Hime & Isabella Drake, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and 1 aunt, Hilda Gordon of Canajoharie. He also is survived by his Circle of Friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday September 3, 2004 at 11:00 am from the Smith ? Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY with Reverend Kenneth Dingman, pastor of St. John?s Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in Maple Ave. Cemetery, Fultonville, NY. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Thursday September 2, 2004 from 5-8 pm. All memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to S.A.V.A.C. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
