Obituary of Donald Krieger

Donald R. (Don) Krieger, 81 a long time St. Johnsville resident, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday September 8, 2004 at St. Mary?s Hospital, Amsterdam, NY. He was born January 21, 1923 in St. Johnsville the son of the late Edward & Emma (Kraft) Krieger, and was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School. He was married to Estella E. Pendrak on August 1, 1953 at St. James? Church in Fort Plain. The couple shared a blessed union of marriage for 50 years until the passing of Mrs. Krieger on October 17, 2003. Donald was a World War II Army veteran, enlisting on January 30, 1943 and was honorably discharged on February 20, 1946 with the rank of Technician Forth Grade. While serving his country Donald received the following medals; American Theater Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. Mr. Krieger was last employed at the former Mohawk Data Science in Herkimer, and was of the Lutheran faith. Don loved his family and friends which was proven by the care and compassion that he expressed to them. An avid outdoorsman, who was one of the founders and past-president of the former St. Johnsville Snowbirds. Survivors include a son; Donald Krieger and wife Tina of Canajoharie, 2 daughters; Donna Dean and companion Tom Ragonese of Canajoharie and Debra Roorda and husband Sam of Herkimer, a brother; Richard Krieger and wife Jane of Mentor, Ohio, 2 grandsons; Jordan and Justin Roorda and 2 step-grandchildren; Sam Roorda and Amber Holden, 2 step- great grandchildren; Devyn & Kellan Roorda and several nieces, nephews & cousins. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday September 14, 2004 at 11:00 am at West St. Johnsville Cemetery . There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Smith ? Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY. All memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one?s choice.
