Obituary of Assunda Lamanna
Mrs. Assunda K. "Sue" Lamanna, a longtime Little Falls resident, age 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, June 15, 2004 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica, New York. Sue was born on August 16, 1916, in Port Reading, NJ, a daughter of the late Ralph and Angela (Soldi) Coppola and was educated in Port Reading schools. She was united in marriage with Paul A. "Chip" Lamanna in Port Reading, NJ on June 11, 1943. The couple moved to Little Falls in 1949. Mr. Lamanna passed away on May 19, 1988. At one time, Mrs. Lamanna and her husband owned and operated the National Grill Restaurant on Flint Ave. in Little Falls. Sue was last employed for 25 years with the former Allegro Shoe Corporation, Little Falls, retiring in 1978. She was a communicant of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls and a member of the former St. Joseph's Rosary Society where she was active for many years. Sue, affectionately known by her family as "Nonnie" will be remembered by her family for her love of cooking and large family gatherings. Mrs. Lamanna was the proud parent of three sons, Rocco J. Lamanna and wife Bev of Little Falls, Frank P. Lamanna and wife Karen of Hall, NY and Ralph P. Lamanna and wife Judi of Warsaw, NY. As Nonnie, she was especially proud of her eight grandchildren, Rocco "Rick" Lamanna, Joseph Lamanna and wife Sarah, Lisa Lamanna, Philip Lamanna and wife Amber, Rosi and Angela Lamanna and Gina and Katherine Lamanna, many nieces, nephews and cousins and inlaws, including Antoinette LaPuma and Robert Miller. A special note of thanks goes to her dear neices, Louise Donato and Angela Lamanna for their love and companionship. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Helen Renzulli of Little Falls, and Genefi Gabriel, Migalena Contala and Ann Simeone, three brothers, Americo, Benny and Mario Coppola all of New Jersey. The Lamanna family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, on Friday, June 18, 2004 from 5-8 p.m. Mrs. Lamanna's funeral will commence at 10:15 am on Saturday morning, June 19, from the chapel of the Enea Funeral Home, where prayer will be offered and at 11 am from Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Streets, Little Falls, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer where she will be laid to rest.
