David F. Lonis, Sr., age 66 of 958 Burt Road, Little Falls, passed away on Monday June 7, 2004. He was born on November 21, 1937 in Ilion, the son of the late William Elwood Lonis and Julia Catherine (Donnelly) Lonis. His marriage to Jean Verri took place on December 20, 1958 at St. Joseph's Church in Little Falls. Mr. Lonis served in the United States Army. David was employed at Labor's Local #35 Construction out of Utica. Mr. Lonis was of the Catholic Faith and enjoyed the time he shared with his grandchildren, playing ball, swimming and traveling. Dave was known as a "Jack of All Trades" doing various mechanical, carpentry and masonry work throughout the valley. Dave was a hard worker who always lent a helping hand to family and friends. In his liesure, he was an avid bowler for quite some time, and excelled in football during high school. Survivors include his wife, Jean; 3 sons: David Lonis, Jr. and fincee Tammye Buchinski of Little Falls, Michael Lonis of Little Falls, and Raymond Lonis and wife Makeesha of Valatie, NY; 2 brothers: Robert Lonis and wife Marge of Little Falls, and Donald Lonis of Ilion; 2 sisters: Elizabeth Lonis Schneider of Herkimer, and Eleanor Hanley and husband Robert of Canandaigua, NY; 3 loving grandchildren: Christina Keavaney-Lonis, Elwood Zane Lonis and Jesse Davidson Lonis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was predeceased by a brother, William Elwood Lonis and a sister Patricia Lonis Gabriel. Funeral services will be held on Friday June 11, 2004 at 10:00 am from the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY. Burial will follow at Church Street Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Thursday June 10, 2004 from 5-8 pm.
