Obituary of Anthony Masala

Mr. Anthony J. Masala, 77 of North Helmer Avenue, Dolgeville, died unexpectedly on Sunday evening October 3, 2004 in Little Falls Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack at home. He was born in Gloversville, NY on April 8, 1927, the son of Victor and Phyllis (Petruccio) Masala and attended Gloversville schools. A veteran of WWII, he served honorably in the United States Navy from March 1945 until his discharge in July of 1946. His marriage to the former Angeline Marucci took place on May 15, 1949 in St. Joseph's Church in Dolgeville. Tony was employed by the North Hudson Woodcraft Company of Dolgeville, as a shop foreman, retiring from there in 1989. He was of the Catholic Faith and a member of St. Joseph's Church in Dolgeville and he personally enjoyed woodworking. Surviving him is his wife Angeline "Angie", a son Anthony V. Masala of Dolgeville, his brothers Christopher Masala of West Palm Beach, Fla., Nicholas Masala of Gloversville, his sisters Jenny Chiarello of Gloversville, Julia "Dolly" Handy of Johnstown, Flora Mellis of Johnstown, several nieces and nephews including Carl Marucci of Dolgeville. He was pre-deceased by a brother Joseph Masala in 2003 and his sister Caroline Russo in 2002. Private funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 6, 2004 at the Roberts-Buck Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave., Dolgeville. Rev. Leo F. Potvin of St. Joseph's Church will offer prayer for the immediate family. There are no calling hours.
