Obituary of Clark Mosher
Clark F. Mosher, 78, of 203 East German St., Herkimer, formerly of Ilion, died at 11:53 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion. He was born Jan. 4, 1926, in Salisbury, N.Y., the son of Clark W. and Florence (Phelps) Mosher and attended Dolgeville schools. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. On Oct. 24, 1964, he was married to Doreen Durfey in Winsted, Conn. Clark was employed as a lieutenant in the training division for the New York State Department of Correctional Services for 22 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was a counselor in its Herkimer Branch Presidency and also served on the activities committee. He also was a member of the Ilion Masonic Lodge and the Mohawk American Legion. Clark did volunteer work for Catholic Charities in the RSVP program and was a teacher of the 55 Alive program. He was also a volunteer at the Mohawk Valley General Hospital snack bar and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Clark loved his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and liked helping people. He also enjoyed writing poems and was interested in local history. Survivors include his wife, Doreen; four daughters and one son-in-law, Kelly Mosher and Karen Bowman, both of Ilion, Kathy Smith and Carol and Ray Moreno, all of Denver, Colo.; his son, Gary Lince of Utica; his sister, Laura Claus of Little Falls; his brother Arthur Mosher of Dolgeville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Michael in 1986 and his brother, Leslie Mosher. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Gros Boulevard, East Herkimer, with Branch President Hollis Bunker Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, and Thursday from 1-2 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
