Obituary of Louisa Mowers
Mrs. Louisa Mae (Cool) Mowers, age 87, a longtime Salisbury resident and most recently of Dolgeville passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, November 3, 2004. Her passing occurred in Valley Health Services. She was born on September 19, 1917 in Salisbury Corners a daughter of the late Earl and Bessie (Everson) Cool and received her education in Salisbury schools. Louisa was united in marriage with Frank Mowers on March 16, 1935 in the Methodist Church, Salisbury Center. Prior to his passing on February 20, 2002, the couple enjoyed a blessed and loving union of 66 years which was filled with many happy memories. She was last employed by the former Daniel Green Shoe Factory, Dolgeville and was a member of the Universalist Church, Salisbury. Louisa was blessed with a loving and caring heart. Her family will always cherish and hold the memories that they shared with their mother and grandmother close to their heart. She especially enjoyed the many years she spent traveling with her husband. Survivors include two sons, Dean F. Mowers of Salisbury and special friend Irma Crews of Stratford, Robert E. Mowers and special friend Anne Schuyler of Salisbury Center; two daughters: Pauline Knapp and husband Thurman of Dolgeville and Marcia J. Cigale and Edward Cigale of Little Falls; two sisters: Nora Cool of Stratford and Arlene Radley of Dolgeville; two sisters in law: Theckla Cool of Stratford and Elva Chestney of Herkimer; nine grandchildren: Ned Mowers and wife Sandra of Dolgeville, Denise Cramer and husband Zane of Auburn, Stephen Mowers and wife Lisa of Fairfield, CT, Gary Mowers and wife Shelly of Salisbury Center, Brett Mowers of Salisbury Center, Tanya Vickers and husband David of Salisbury Center, Lynne Lyon and husband Richard of Dolgeville, Brad Polivka and wife Joanne of Rome, and Teresa Cigale of Little Falls, twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Preceding Louisa in death were five brothers: Evereth, Wendell, Edwin, Royce and Howard Cool; two sisters, Bessie Poole and Marie Belcher; two granddaughter's, Tammy Humphrey and Julia Mowers, a son in law Archie Polivka and two daughters in law, Irene and Betty Mowers. Louisa's family will greet relatives and friends in the Roberts-Buck Funeral Home, 3 E. Faville Ave., Dolgeville, on Friday evening, Nov. 5, 2004 from 6- 8 p.m. Her funeral will be held privately at the convenience of the family with the Rev. James Thomas, officiating. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband Frank in Salisbury Rural Cemetery. In lieu of floral tributes, kindly consider memorial contributions to the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Dept., or to the Universalist Church, Salisbury; donations may be made at the funeral home and envelopes are also available.
