Obituary of Alexander Nowak

Alexander S. Nowak, 58, of 30 Grove St., Mohawk, husband of Millie (Shaw) Nowak, father of Arlene Nowak, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 9, 2004. He was born on November 3, 1945 in Utica, a son of Samuel and Sophie (Zientar) Nowak and was educated in Utica Schools. He furthered his education by attending Mohawk Valley Community College, obtaining an associates degree. On November 5, 1977 he was united in marriage with the former Millie Shaw in Sidney, NY. Alex was last employed as a designer with Parker Hannifin in Clyde, NY. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Herkimer. Survivors include his mother, Sophie of Utica, his wife Millie of Mohawk, a daughter Arlene also of Mohawk, a sister Adela of Utica, his father in law Robert Shaw of Sidney, a sister in law Barbara Howes of Sidney, four brothers in law, Ralph Shaw of Sidney, Claude Shaw and wife Gianna of Fayetteville, Fred Shaw and wife Leslie of Jacksonville, FL and Stuart Murphy and wife Cynthia of Westmoreland, and many nices and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Samuel Nowak and sister Ann Murphy. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main St., between Ilion and Frankfort on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 from 6-8 pm. Alex's funeral will commence at 11 am on Thursday morning, May 13, from the Trinity Lutheran Church, Herkimer with the Rev. Alice Moberg-Sarver, pastor, officiating. Procession will follow to Holy Trinity Cemetery, Utica where he will be laid to rest.
