Obituary of Irma Paulsen

Mrs. Irma Paulsen, age 84, of 540 Lake Street, Herkimer, passed away on Saturday April 3, 2004 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. She was born on February 2, 1920 in Latvia, daughter of the late Fred and Lisa Semit. She emigrated to the United States as a young girl in 1923 and received her education in Herkimer schools. She was a lifelong area resident. She was united in marriage with Arne B. Paulsen on June 30, 1950 at the Methodist Church Parsonage in Ilion. Mr. Paulsen passed away on March 26, 1993. For 36 years Irma had worked with Remington Arms Corporation in Ilion as a secretary. She is survived by her brother Herbert Semit and his wife Geraldine of Herkimer; nieces and nephews: Cary & Jackie Semit of Herkimer; Mark & Chris Semit of Mohawk; David Semit of Little Falls; Linda & Ross Tarbox of Ephratah; Bill & Donna Semit of Remsen; Jane & Bob Smith of Florida; and Lila & Jim Rogers of Florida; great nieces, great nephews, a step son: William Paulsen, Sr. of Florida; step grandchildren: Luann & Tom Ruggeri of Florida; Robert Paulsen, Carol & William Paulsen, Jr., all of Florida; and step great grandchildren. and special friends Sid and Penny Clark of Herkimer and her much loved companion cat Toby. She was predeceased by a brother Carl Semit. Irma was a member of the Herkimer County Humane Society, the Remington Arms 25 Year Club, AARP, the Herkimer County Historical Society, PETA, and other charitable organizations. Her special interests included reading, gardening, and a true love of animals. In respect of the wishes of Irma, there will be no public callling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service that will be held on Tuesday April 6, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer. All arrangements are under the direction of the Holleran - Enea Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer.
