Obituary of Roscoe Perrone
Mr. Roscoe L. "Rocky" Perrone, Sr., age 81 of 1291 Barringer Road, Ilion, Town of Frankfort, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, February 26, 2004 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 15, 1922 in Richfield Springs, son of the late Roscoe & Lena (Wolfen) Eastman Perrone and was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School. He had been a lifelong resident of this area. He was united in marriage with Winona Perrone who passed away in 1967. He later married Margaret (Driscoll) Perrone in the Town of Columbia. On August 1, 1942, Rocky joined the United States Army Corps and proceeded to serve our country during World War II. His battles and campaigns including Napples-Foggia and Rome-Arno, having received many medals including a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged on November 6, 1945 and upon release from active duty held the rank of staff sergeant with the 85th Bomb Squadron, 47th Bomb Group. For many years, Rocky gained enjoyment as the owner and operator of R.L. Perrone & Sons Contracting based in Ilion. His company had constructed many beautiful homes in out area over a 60 year span. He was a member of the Ilion Fish & Game Club, along with being an over 50 year member of the Ilion American Legion. He was an avid hunter and a devoted patriarch of his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Margaret; one son Louis Perrone of Little Falls; a daughter Paula Gravelding and her husband Eric of Ilion; step children: Kevin Marcil of Greenville, South Carolina and Lisa Marcil-Huffman and her husband Anthony of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; grandchildren: Barbara, Marjorie, Jeffrey, Jesse, Lauren and Lindsay; great grandchildren: Abigail & Mycena; two brothers: Harold Perrone and his wife Thelma of Mohawk, two sisters: June Lonis of Ilion; and Marjorie Blaszak of Ilion; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and special dear and supportive friends throughout our area and beyond. He was predeceased by a son: Roscoe L. Perrone, Jr., two step sons: Michael & David Marcil; and a brother: Edwin Perrone. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 29, 2004 at 4:00 PM at the Enea Family Funeral Home Chapel, Main Street between Ilion and Frankfort, with Rev. George B. Greene officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home chapel at the conclusion of the funeral service. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the funersal home on Sunday prior to the funeral service, from 1 until 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, it is the wish of the family that donations be considered to Hospice Care Inc. Envelopes may be obtained from the Enea Family Funeral Home (894-8000). A special thank you is offered to Rocky's many friends and family who offered support during this difficult time, especially mentioning his nurse, Judy, whose compassion will never be forgotten.
