D. Carlton "Grandpa" Powers, 97, of Millers Grove Rd., Mobile Home Park, Schuyler, Formerly of Ilion, died Friday, October 22, 2004. He was a true gentleman who touched the lives of everyone he met and was loved by all. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Ben Lawrence of Ilion; five grandchildren, Debbie Copp and her husband, Bill of Liverpool, David Lawrence and his wife, Pam of Ilion, Dale Lawrence and his wife, Lori of Herkimer, Dee Dee Maiolo and her husband, Rick of CT, and Dawn Lawrence and her Fiancee, Bob Pilkington of CT; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Blanche (Hawks) Powers in 1994; and two brothers Clyde and Glenn; and two sisters, Pearl and Peachy. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2004, at the Ilion First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Smith, Pastor, officiating. Calling hours are Sunday, October 24, 2004 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ilion First Baptist Church.
