Obituary of Frances Richie
Frances Richie, 88, formerly of 208 Willis Ave., Herkimer, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at the Folts Homes. She was born Aug. 24, 1915, in Little Falls, the daughter of the late Rocco and Carmella (Perry) Compolo and was educated in Little Falls schools. Her marriage to Anthony N. Richie took place on Nov. 18, 1933, in Amsterdam. The couple shared a blessed union of 50 years until the passing of Mr. Richie on Dec. 2, 1983. Frances was last employed at the former P&K Dress Shop in Little Falls and at one time worked at the former Melrose Slipper Co. in Little Falls. Mrs. Richie was a member of the Church of Saints Anthony and Joseph in Herkimer. With family as her foremost priority, Frances proved herself as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and sister. Survivors include her daughter, Lucy Noonan and husband David of Little Falls; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Richie of Louisville, Ky.; two brothers, Andrew Compolo of Herkimer and Frank Compolo and wife Carol of East Herkimer; four sisters, Lucy Scialdo and husband Marshall of East Herkimer, Christine Capece and husband Joseph of Little Falls, Jennie Cicciarelli of Dolgeville and Teresa Shumlansky and husband Richard of Little Falls; seven grandchildren, Curtis Richie and wife Lisa, Kimberly Richie, Guy Richie and wife Susan, David A. Noonan and wife Jennifer, Tracey Menapace and husband David, Lynn Marie Lankshear and husband David and Mary Beth Spath and husband Tom; 11 great-grandchildren, Nicholas A. Richie, Victoria Richie, Connor, Noah and Aiden Noonan, Zachary, Emily and Nathan Menapace, Quinn Lankshear and Madaline and Grace Spath; several nieces and nephews and in-laws, Ralph Richie of East Herkimer, Marie and Frank Perry of Little Falls and Katherine and Alfred Fortucci of Little Falls. She was predeceased by a son, James A. Richie and a sister, Rose Galini. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 6, at 9:45 a.m. from the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer and at 10:30 a.m. from the Church of Saints Anthony and Joseph where a Mass of Christian Burial will be cel ebrated by the Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Friday, March 5, from 5-8 p.m. All memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Saints Anthony and Joseph or to the Folts Homes. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff of the Folts Homes for the care and devotion shown to Frances during her stay.
