Ronald "Ronbow" M. Saunders, age 58, of N. Main St., Herkimer, formerly of Ilion, died unexpectedly on Friday, December 31, 2004 at Little Falls Hospital. He was born on November 15, 1946 in Ilion, the son of Merle and Marion (Rieck) Saunders and attended Ilion schools. At one time, he was married to Donna Swald. He later married Denise Evans. Ron was employed as a gun inspector at Remington Arms Co., Ilion for over 38 years. He attended The Word Christian Center of Herkimer. Ron formed the Josey Wales Band and was its drummer for many years. His motorcycle and music were important in his life. Survivors include his fiancee, Linda Workman, with whom he resided in Herkimer; three daughters, Denise (Saunders) Bowman and her fiancee, Joel LaJuett, of Herkimer, Jackie Saunders and her fiancee Mike Robb of Oriskany, Jennifer (Saunders) Bennett and her husband, Justin of Utica; one stepson, Randy Saunders of Ilion; 12 grandchildren, Amanda Nichols, Latasha and Kasandra Bowman, Brandon Frantz, Dustin, Danielle and Thomas Saunders, Heather Heinrich and Kyree Lewis, Judith, Justin, and Baby Bennett; and one great-grandson, due in April 2005. He was predeceased by his father, Merle, in 1975; and his mother, Marion, in 1988. Funeral services will be held, 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with Pastor Eugene Kipper of The Word Christian Center of Herkimer officiating. Spring interment will be in North Columbia Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, January 4, 2005 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
