Mrs. Marie E. (Laura) Scialdo, age 86, a longtime Herkimer resident, went to be with her husband Andrew and her beloved daughter, Andrea, in heaven early Friday morning, October 29, 2004 in Folts Homes, Herkimer. Her loving family was at her side at the time of her passing. She was born on May 2, 1918 in Chicago, IL, a daughter of the late John and Antoinette (Siga) Laura and was educated in Dolgeville schools. On September 27, 1940, Marie joined in marriage with Andrew Scialdo in Dolgeville. Throughout their 63 years together, they shared the blessings of family as well as the joy and memory of many happy occasions with each other and their loved ones. Mr. Scialdo passed away on April 8, 2004. Marie was the co-owner with her husband of Andy's Antiques. Together they enjoyed traveling and antiquing. She was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer. A woman whose family ties ran deep and strong, she bestowed her love and support to her family members. Survivors include two beloved sons, Scott Scialdo and wife Jackie of Herkimer and Gary Scialdo and wife Phyllis of Frankfort, a close sister, Yolonda Frezza O'Keefe of Liverpool, her beloved grandchildren, Corey Scialdo and wife Heather, Tammi Scialdo, Vanessa Scialdo, Stephen Scialdo, Dominick Scialdo and John and Rachel Waseleski, inlaws: Mike Scialdo of Mohawk, Marshall Scialdo and wife Lucy of Herkimer, Rudy Scialdo and wife Rena of Herkimer and Ida Guzzo of Herkimer, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Andrea Scialdo, a brother John Laura and by a sister Delores DeNinno. In keeping with Marie's wishes, a private family service will be held at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer. She will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. The family would like to publicly acknowledge the staff of Folts Homes especially mentioning the 2nd floor staff for their kindness, love and affection offered over the years.
