Obituary of Edward Skibinski
Mr. Edward B. Skibinski, age 77, a lifelong Little Falls resident, passed away on Tuesday morning, September 7, 2004 in his home. He was born on October 12, 1926 in Little Falls a son of the late Veronica (Sen) and Keneck Skibinski, and was president of his graduating class of 1945. On Dec. 1, 1951, he was united in marriage with the former Diane Murphy in St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Alfred Lamanna, officiating. They recently shared 53 years of wedded bliss. He was employed by the former Snyders Manufacturing at one time. He then joined his father in running the family business, Keneck's Grill in Little Falls. He became proprietor when his father passed away in 1955 and ran the business until retiring in 1971, after 50 years of dedication. He then worked for Little Falls Color Print until 1991. A very devout and dedicated Catholic, he was a member of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls and enjoyed attending daily mass with his beloved wife Diane. Throughout the years he remained very active with church activities and was past president of the Holy Name Society. He was also president of the Nocturnal Society, a member of the former Little Falls Knights of Columbus, and was a member of the Knights of the Immaculata. For many years he led the daily rosary group and enjoyed leading the Angelus at noon mass in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary for many years. Ed enjoyed sitting on the front porch, feeding and watching the birds. He loved to make people smile by passing out candy-nips and Life Savers wherever he went, to one and all and was affectionately known as "the candy man." He was a fun-loving man, and enjoyed his life and delighted in the many people who were such an important and meaningful part of it. As a devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was ever faithful and attentive to his loved ones upon whom he bestowed his support and loving concern. His self involvement with family and church will leave a lasting legacy for all to live by. Survivors include his beloved wife Diane of Little Falls, 6 children, Cynthia Fasano and husband Rich of Elk Grove, CA; Keneck Skibinski and wife Cynthia of Little Falls, Sandra Skibinski and Tom Humbert of Freeport, ME, Dale Skibinski and wife Linda of Dolgeville, Bryan Skibinski and fiance Tania of Salisbury and Jodie Skibinski and P.J. Belmont of Frankfort. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Chris, Laura, Josh and Ben Skibinski; Adam and Courtney Fasano, Joseph Edgie Skibinski and many nieces, nephews, cousins and inlaws. He was predeceased by a son Edgie who passed away in 1974. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects to the Skibinski family on Wednesday (today), Sept. 8, 2004 from 5-7 p.m at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls. Ed's funeral will commence at 11 am on Thursday morning, Sept. 9, from Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Streets, Little Falls where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer, will be held at the convenience of the family. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Holy Family Parish Memorial Fund.
