Obituary of Thelma Stasco

Thelma E. Stasco, age 92, formerly of 74 N. Fifth Ave., Ilion and Claxton Manor, Herkimer, died at 3:15 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at Little Falls Hospital. She had been a recent resident at Folts Home. She was born on October 18, 1911 in Ilion, the daughter of Roy H. and Mabel E. (Clark) Stitt and attended Ilion Schools and Utica Schools of Commerce. On January 27, 1940, she was married to John J. Stasco in Ilion. He died on October 5, 1979. Thelma was employed as secretary for Attorney Fred J. O'Donnell of Ilion for 25 years retiring in 1974. Mrs. Stasco was an 80 year member of the Ilion First Presbyterian Church. She was also a 50 year member, Past Grand Officer and Past Matron of The Evening Star Valley Chapter #82 O.E.S. Thelma was a member of AARP and enjoyed bowling. Survivors include her sister, Evelyn Stitt; her sisters-in-law, Ann Bubb of Mohawk, Margaret Stasco of Ilion and Helen Stasco of San Jose, CA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Roy and Mabel Stitt; her sister, Kathryn Stitt; and her half sister, Jane Peters. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, August 6, 2004, at the Ilion First Presbyterian Church, 90 Morgan St., Ilion with Rev. Patricia Lawrence officiating. Interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. Calling hours are Thursday, August 5, 2004, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion. The O.E.S. Ritualistic Service will be held Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Folts Home Foundation or the charity of your choice.
