A Tribute to Grandma Hi Nan! Hi Hunny! That was the way we started every conversation. Grandma was a wonderful, strong woman who along with Grandpa managed to guide and raise 11 children and several grandchildren. Having 11 kids is practically unheard of in these days and times, however, 61 years ago Grandma and Grandpa embarked on a wonderful adventure. They were married on May 16, 1943 and immediately started having kids. Grandma birthed naturally 6 strapping boys and 5 beautiful girls. Katie came first, then Jerry and Peanut. Grandma was a twin, so she was destined to have a set of her own. The twins, Don and Ron came next. It was then Ozzie’s turn to see the world. With all these boys, they wondered if they would have the makings of a future football team. They then had a run of girls to keep Katie company. Penny, Dody, and Chris blessed them. Jack came next and their baby girl was Cheeko. Boy, were they tired!! They raised these children with strong morals and values. They grew up, started families of their own and became outstanding members of their communities. I was blessed to live with Grandma and Grandpa for half my life. I share a bond with them like no other. Grandma is so special to me. Growing up in her household, I was lucky to have her guidance on a daily basis. She is a big reason why I am the person I am today. She was my biggest fan and I hers. We shared so many memories. I can’t imagine my life without my Grandma init. I can’t imagine not calling and hearing “Hi Hunny!” She will forever be in my heart. She is at peace and finally back with the love of her life. The two of them are looking down on all of us and smiling. Our family now has three guardian angels in heaven. Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Dody will guide us and wait patiently for each one of us to arrive. Five nights ago I spent the night with Grandma at the hospital. As I watched her sleep, I prayed that she wasn’t scared or in any pain. She woke up, touched my face and told me I was her little angel. She then hugged me and told me she loved me. She’s my angel now and I will love and miss her always! XOXO Jody
