Obituary of Dorothy Viscusie

Mrs. Dorothy M. Viscusie, age 80, a longtime resident of Dolgeville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 18, 2004 in Rome Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born on September 29, 1923 in Boonville a daughter of the late Edward and Winona (Binhamer) Crandall. She was educated in Boonville schools and was a resident of Dolgeville for 57 years. On February 28, 1943 she was united in Holy Matrimony with Fiori P. Viscusie in Dolgeville. They enjoyed a union of 52 years. Mr. Viscusie passed away on October 9, 1996. Dorothy was last employed by the former Leda Shoe Company, Dolgeville. She was of the Episcopalian Faith. Survivors include two sons, James Viscusie and wife Jeyoung of Jacksonville, FL. And Joseph Viscusie and wife Nadine of Dolgeville, two daughters, Sharon Millard and husband Thomas of Rome and Lori Martin and husband James of Rome, a sister in law, Marion Evans of California, ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a daughter JoEllyn DePiazza. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls on Monday, March 22, 2004 from 4-6 p.m. Her funeral will commence at the conclusion of calling hours (6 p.m.) in the chapel of the Enea Funeral Home. The Rev. Barry Smith, pastor of the New Hope Christian Fellowship, Dolgeville will officiate. She will be laid to rest this spring in Dolgeville Cemetery. Memorial contributions in honor of Dorothy may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. A part of Dorothy will live forever will live forever with her family and friends through her legacy of love and the inspiration of her values. Her strength of character and her selflessness provided her loved ones with staunch and dependable support throughout the years.
