Obituary of Rose Witkowski

Rose B. Witkowski, 86, of Stone Arabia Rd., Fort Plain, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2004, at St. Johnsville Nursing Home. She was born October 5, 1917, in South Columbia, the daughter of the late Peter and Christine Bayzon and was educated in Van Hornesville schools. Rose had been a resident of Stone Arabia since 1946. Her marriage to Charles Witkowski took place on September 12, 1942 in Richfield Springs. Mrs. Witkowski was last employed at the former Allegro Shoe Company in Little Falls, and for many years worked on the family farm. Rose was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Fort Plain. With family as her foremost priority, Rose centered her life around her husband, son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her leisure she enjoyed reading. Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, Charles; a loving son, Charles W. Witkowski and wife Roseann of Sprakers; a brother, Stanley Bayzon and wife Ann of Herkimer; a sister, Katherine Cramer and husband Joseph of Jacksonburg; four cherished grandchildren, Lisa Witkowski-Sansevier and husband Vincent of Utica, Michelle Linck and husband Timothy of Sauquoit, Aaron Witkowski and fianc?e Julie Winnick of Sidney and Shaun Witkowski of Dallas, Texas; six cherished great-grandchildren, Daniel, Ashley and Kirsten Sansevieri and Zachary, Gabriele and Jacob Linck; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, John Bayzon; and two sisters, Mary Park and Helen Whalen. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 16, at 9 a.m. from the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, and at 10 a.m. from St. James Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Kenneth Swain, pastor. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 15, from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make all memorial contributions to St. James Church.
