Obituary of James Wren

Mr. James B. Wren, age 73, of 3907 State Route 167, Little Falls, passed away on Friday evening, November 5, 2004 at the Folts Homes in Herkimer. Jim passed following a long illness and was blessed with the love and support of his family at his side. He was born on December 10, 1931 in Little Falls, a son of the late Patrick and Elizabeth (Bunce) Wren and had attended St. Francis de Sales school in Herkimer. He had been a lifelong resident of this area. He was employed for over 24 years with General Electric in Utica as a painter, retiring in 1991. He found great joy in his abundant family, including his beloved wife of over 51 years, Geraldine M. (Smith) Wren. The couple joined in marriage on January 17, 1953 at St. Mary's Church in Little Falls, with the Rev. Edward H. Gilmour officiating. He was a communicant of the Holy Family Parish Church in Little Falls. Jim painted and wallpapered in our area for many years and had also enjoyed working as a short order cook on weekends. He will be dearly missed by his loving family including his wife: Geraldine; his children: Mark Wren and his wife Arlene of Maine; Cynthia Beacraft and her husband Daniel of Little Falls; Susan Moretti and her husband Larry of Rhode Island; John Wren and his wife Teresa of East Herkimer; Steven Wren and his wife Donna of Little Falls; and Debra McDermott and her husband Mark of Fort Plain; his grandchildren: Daniel Beacraft, James Beacraft and his wife Nicole; Jarred Beacraft, Kenneth Wanamaker, Jonathan Wanamaker, Melanie Wren, Tyler McDermott, Emily McDermott, Sean Wren, Rob Minuck and Melissa Minuck, great grandchildren: Alethia Wanamaker and Kaitlyn Panella, two sisters: Dorothy Wren Ward and her husband William of Herkimer, and Donna Gardinier and her husband Robert of Little Falls; many nieces nephews cousins, and In Laws including: Loretta Wren of Westmoreland, Carol Wren of Herkimer, Helen Wren of Mohawk, Gerald Smith of Mohawk, Don Bennett of Richfield Springs, and Herman Baylor of Mohawk. His family would like to also give special recognition to a few special family friends and relatives including: Don and Rose Ezzo, Mae Chase, Jessie & Charlie Juby, and Gerald Smith. Jim was predeceased by his son: Paul Wren, two grandchildren: Blaise David Wren and Rebecca Jean Beacraft, and his brothers and sisters including: Catherine Bunce Dunne of Ireland, Mary Margaret Loefler, Josephine Wren Petrie, Elizabeth Wren Lassell, Marguerite Wren Loefler, Daniel Wren, Frances Wren Miller, Patrick Wren, Martin Wren, Eileen Wren Moody, Thomas Wren, and William Wren, Sr. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 9, 2004 at 10:15 AM from the Enea Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street Little Falls and at 11:00 AM from the Holy Family Parish Church, corner of East Main & John Streets, Little Falls, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, Pastor. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening, Nov. 8th from 5 - 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, those wishing are asked to consider donations in Jim's memory to either the Holy Family Parish or to the Folts Homes Foundation. Envelopes may be obtained from the funeral home. Jim's family gratefully acknowledges the doctors nurses and staff of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center along with those of the Folts Homes for the tireless care and effort given to him and his family. Also, a very special thanks to Dr. Dale Adamson and the entire staff of the Little Falls Hospital Emergency Room for the excellent care extended.
