Obituary of Kenneth Burke

Mr. Kenneth W. Burke, 75, of Prindle Apartments, Ilion, passed away on Thursday morning, February 6, 2003 at his home with his family at his side. He was born on July 10, 1927 in Utica, NY, the son of Stewart and Pearl Burke. He married Betty J. Hall on August 23, 1953 in the Methodist Church in Ilion. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps and was employed with the A&P Grocery Store, Remington Arms and Birnie Bus. He was a former member of the Ilion Moose Club, as well as an avid pitcher for various softball leagues and was an umpire. He was a volunteer fireman and a member of the Ilion Rescue Squad. Besides his wife Betty, he leaves four daughters and sons in law, Karen and Bruce Mansell of California, Kimberly and Santo Falbo Golas of Little Falls, nine grandchildren, Bryan, Britton, Karli, Cory, Alyssa, Courtney, Heather, Kenneth and Chad and two great grandchildren, Kayla and Blaise, one brother and sister in law, Walter and Marie Clements of Whitesboro, several niece's including Carole Clements, several nephews, cousins and inlaws. Friends and relatives are invited with the family and pay their respects at the Enea Funeral Home, Main Street between Ilion and Frankfort on Saturday, February 8, 2003 from 3-5 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday evening at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Carlton VanOrnum, pastor emeritus of the First Methodist Church in Rome, officiating. Kenneth's family wishes to thank Judy, Mark, Theresa and Monica of Hospice Care for their support and compassion, also to the doctors and staff of Bassett Healthcare of Cooperstown and a special thank you to Sandy Smith. Ken was always there for his family and will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
