Obituary of Olga Caliguire
Mrs. Olga Caliguire, age 82, of East Herkimer, entered into eternal rest on Thursday morning, September 18, 2003 in Little Falls Hospital, after a long illness. She was born in Herkimer on May 1, 1921, a daughter of the late Umberto and Adele (Bisceglia) Pietropaoli, and received her education in Herkimer schools, graduating with the Herkimer High School Class of 1938. She was united in Holy Matrimony with Peter J. Caliguire on May 18, 1943 in St. Anthony's Church, Herkimer. Mr. Caliguire passed away on August 22, 1985. She was last employed with UNIVAC and at one time was employed with MDS. Olga was a member of Mount Zion Ministries. She was a charter member of the Herkimer Lady Elk's, a charter member of the Sts. Anthony and Joseph Crafty Ladies, the East Herkimer Senior Citizens and volunteered with Shepards Table. She knitted for infants at Little Falls Hospital and also donated her time volunteering at the Mt. Zion Food Pantry (Compassion Coalition). Olga was the first secretary for Herkimer County's 4H Division of Extension Service and was the last UNIVAC employee in the Herkimer County area. She is survived by her son Peter Caliguire and wife Cathleen of East Herkimer, a daughter Adele Aiello and husband Jack of East Herkimer, two brothers Charles Pietropaoli and wife Aggie of Little Falls, Victor Pietropaoli and wife Mary of Florida, one sister, Ida Bell and the late John Bell of East Herkimer, four grandchildren, Joshua Caliguire, Corban Caliguire and Carmi Caliguire, Katrina Aiello, several nieces, nephews and cousins, in laws, Florence Caliguire and Laura Caliguire, Genieve Caliguire, all of Herkimer, Victor Caliguire and wife Isabelle of Mohawk and Mario and Becky Caliguire of Herkimer. She was predeceased by two sisters. The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer on Sunday, Sept. 21 from 5-8 p.m. Her funeral will commence at 11 am on Monday morning, Sept. 22 from New Life Ministry, 337 Protection Ave., Herkimer with the Rev. Peter Puleo, officiating. Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer where Olga will be laid to rest alongside her husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Compassion Coalition, c/o Mt. Zion Ministries, Herkimer Road, Utica, NY 13501. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. The family would like to offer their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and medical staff that cared for Olga and her family during this difficult time.
