Mr. Richard E. Collis, age 71, formerly of King St., Herkimer, a lifelong resident of Herkimer passed away Friday morning, August 8, 2003 at Loretto Center, Utica, after a long illness. He was born on December 26, 1931 in Herkimer, a son of the late Bernard E. and Marion L. (Casler) Collis and received his education in Herkimer Schools. Mr. Collis was a Air Force Veteran enlisting Feb. 27, 1952 and was honorably discharged on February 26, 1956 with the rank of Airman First Class. He was last employed as an expeditor for ICL Manufacturing Company in Utica. Also at one time he was employed with UNIVAC in Ilion and the Anderson Little Clothing Store of Utica. Mr. Collis was of the catholic faith. For many years he was known to be an avid piano player and singer. Survivors include a brother John Collis and wife Amelia of E. Herkimer, a sister in law, Mary Collis of Norfolk, VA, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother David H. Collis and a sister Elizabeth Oldfield. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at 10:30 am from the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer with the Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer, officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends and relatives may pay their respects at the funeral home from 9:30 am until the time of the funeral service.
