Obituary of Fred D
Mr. Fred D'Amato, age 98, of Herkimer, peacefully joined his Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven on Wednesday morning, October 8, 2003 in Folts Homes, Herkimer. He was born on February 22, 1905 in Compabasso, Italy, a son of the late Giovanni and Amilia (Martinez) D'Amato and received his education in schools in the United States of America. He resided at one time in Philadelphia and Dolgeville but has resided in Herkimer for over 20 years. On November 16, 1929, Fred was united in marriage to Clemantina "Lena" Pizzuto in Norristown. They were truly dedicated to the well being of one another. She passed away on January 17, 1997. He was last employed as a foreman with an exclusive shoe factory in Philadelphia. He was a member of Mt. Zion Ministries, Utica and his faith was very important to him. An admirable and extraordinary man, Fed was blessed with a warm and friendly attitude, a good and open heart, and a genuine and gracious manner. Because of his special loving ways, people gravitated to him for support and friendship. The way he lived provided an inspiring example for his family to emulate. Fred was a hardworker with loyal dedication that reflected the compassion and goodness in his own heart. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening. He leaves three beloved daughters, Amelia Rossiter and husband William of California, Renee Crumbaker and husband James of Florida and Jo Anne Servello and husband Joseph of Herkimer, a brother, Rocco D'Amato and wife Phyllis of Boston a sister Anita in Italy, seven grandchildren, Judy Bach and husband Richard, Tony Servello and wife DeeDee. He was very proud of his grandsons, Pastor Michael Servello, Sr., Pastor Michael Servello, Jr., and Joseph Servello for the religious lives that they chose. Also surviving are Fred's grandson's wives, Melissa, Kelly, and Barbara Servello. Survivors also include three great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother and one sister. Visitation at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer will be on Friday, October 10, 2003 from 5-7 p.m. Fred's funeral will commence at 10 am on Saturday morning, October 11, 2003 from the chapel of the funeral home with his grandsons, Pastor Michael Servello, Jr., and Joseph Servello, officiating. Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer where Mr. D'Amato will be laid to rest alongside his wife Lena. Kindly consider expressions of sympathy to Mt.
