Obituary of Sophie Eskoff

Mrs. Sophie Eskoff, a lifelong resident of Little Falls, beloved wife of Jacob Eskoff, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday evening, September 2, 2003 in the Hospeace Home, Naples, NY. She was born in Little Falls a daughter of the late Louis and Anna (Lenio) Spurza and was educated in Little Falls schools and graduated from the Excelsior School of Business, Utica. Sophie joined in Holy Matrimony with Jacob Eskoff on May 18, 1946 in St. Nicholas Church in Little Falls, a blessed and loving union of 57 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Herkimer and was president and treasurer of St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Sisterhood, Herkimer. She was also a member of the Rock City #272 Order of the Eastern Star, Little Falls, Little Falls AARP #4367 and the East Herkimer Senior Citizens. Her last employment was with the Research/Development Department in Remington Arms, Ilion. She retired on April 30, 1985. Survivors include her husband Jacob of Little Falls, a daughter, Ann Michael Henry and husband Mark of Victor, NY, two cherished grandchildren, Justin Richard and Greer Anne of Victor, two brothers, Steve Spurza and wife Rose of Gloversville, Dr. Michael Spurza and wife Patricia of Fulton, NY. She is also survived by a brother in law, George Eskoff and wife Helen of Little Falls, sister in law, Dorthea "Ginger" Eskoff of Arlington, TX, several nieces and nephews. Her brother John "Yash" Spurza preceded her in death. The family will receive relatives and friends from on Friday morning, September 5, 2003 from 9 to 9:30 at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls. Parastas will be held at 9:30. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 324 Moore Ave., Herkimer where a requiem mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Interment will be held at St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, East Herkimer. It is Sophie's wish that memorial contributions be made to St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church building fund, Little Falls Hospital Development Fund or to the Hospeace House, P.O. Box 343, Naples, NY 14512, envelopes are available at the funeral home.
