Obituary of Benjamin Godlewski

Benjamin Godlewski, 76, of Schuyler, passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Faxton Hospital. He was born Aug. 30, 1927, in Herkimer, the son of the late Karol and Katherine (Paliwoda) Godlewski, and was educated in Herkimer schools. At one time he was married to the late Elizabeth Dodge. Mr. Godlewski was a United States Army veteran, enlisting in 1947, and was honorably discharged in 1949. For over 30 years Benjamin was employed at General Electric in Utica. Benjamin was of the Catholic faith and was a member of Schuyler VFW. Survivors include two sons, Karl Godlewski of Rome and Mark Godlewski and wife Kathy of Little Falls; two daughters, Faye Richer and husband William of East Herkimer and Joan Godlewski of Herkimer; a brother, Stanley Godlewski of Herkimer; two sisters, Irene Polczynski and husband Donald of Poland and Jane Godlewski of Herkimer; two grandchildren, Jenesia and Eric McDonald and two stepgrandchildren, Keith and Dean Flansburg and families; a great-grandchild, Isaiah Herron; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters-in-law, John Godlewski, Chester and Betty Godlewski and Joseph and Marguerite Godlewski and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Stephen Gorczynski. A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, Dec. 18, at 9:30 a.m. from the Church of Saints Anthony and Joseph with the Rev. Robert S. Shinos, pastor, officiating. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. All memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army Christmas Fund. Envelopes will be available at the church.
