Obituary of Doris Humphrey

Mrs. Doris A. (Hays) Humphrey, age 69, of 114 Brookside Dr., Frankfort, passed away on Monday afternoon, October 13, 2003 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion. She was born on September 14, 1934 in Herkimer, the daughter of the late Robert N. and Martha (Robinson) Hays. She received her education in Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort High School. She married Robert H. Humphrey on October 3, 1953 in Frankfort. He passed away on June 27, 2001. She was last employed as a customer service representative with Fleet Bank in Frankfort, retiring in 1996 after several years of dedicated service. She was of the Methodist Faith. Mrs. Humphrey was truly a dedicated and loving family woman always putting her loved ones first in her life. She enjoyed her weekly breakfast with her close friend Susie Smith, biweekly breakfast with her sisters and monthly dinners with her former co-workers. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. She leaves three sons, Robert H. Humphrey, II and wife Paula of Niles, OH, David A. Humphrey and wife Mary Jane of Frankfort, and Brian J. Humphrey of Ilion, a daughter, Diane L. Humphrey of Charlotte, NC, three brothers, Robert Hays and wife Doris of CA., and Edward Hays and wife Esther of Frankfort, two sisters, Barbara Richer and husband Harold of Herkimer, and Beverly Smithers of Herkimer, a sister in law, Bertha Hays of Fallston, MD., four cherished grandchildren, Timothy Humphrey and wife Carolyn, David Humphrey, II, Samantha Humphrey and Jake Soelter, one dear great grandchild, Ashlyn Humphrey, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, a son, William A. Humphrey and a brother Donald A. Hays. The family will gather privately to say goodbye. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will commence at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2003 from the chapel of the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street, between Frankfort and Ilion. The Rev. Robert Wollaber, pastor of the Ilion Methodist Church will officiate. Procession will follow to Evergreen Cemetery, Town of Barneveld where she will be laid to rest between her husband, Robert and her son, William. By family request, please omit floral offerings. The Enea Family Funeral Home, (Frankfort/Ilion) is serving the family.
