Obituary of Joan Manno

Joan M. (Dougherty) Manno, 47, of the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2003, at the nursing home. She was born March 30, 1956, in Herkimer, the daughter of James E. Dougherty Sr. and the late Ann (Goldsmith) Dougherty. Joan was educated in St. Francis de Sales School and graduated from Herkimer High School She also graduated from Herkimer County Community College and Herkimer BOCES School of Nursing as an LPN. She was last employed at the Mohawk Homestead as an LPN. Mrs. Manno was a member of the Annunciation Church in Ilion. With her family as her foremost priority, Joan proved herself to be a loving and caring daughter and sister. Survivors include her father, James "Jim" Dougherty Sr. of Herkimer; two brothers, James Dougherty Jr. of Albany and Henry Dougherty and wife Jean of Oregon City, Ore.; one niece, Megan Dougherty of Albany and one nephew, Matthew Dougherty of Albany; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, Ann, on Sept. 19, 2002. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor, on Friday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m. from St. Francis de Sales Church. Burial will be Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer. All memorial contributions may be made to Multiple Sclerosis. Envelopes will be available at the church. The family would like to thank the staff of the fourth floor at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home for their care and compassion shown to Joan during her stay.
