Obituary of Mary Mayton

Mrs. Mary Mayton, age 82 of Mohawk (Town of Stark) passed away on Thursday morning, May 8, 2003 in Little Falls Hospital after a brief illness. Born on December 5, 1920 in Staratura, Slovakia she was educated in Slovakia schools and came to the United States at the age of 16. She married John Mayton in 1938 in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Little Falls. She was of the Lutheran Faith and a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls. Mary loved to cook and garden and will always be remembered for having a "green thumb". She truly centered her life around her family. She leaves eleven beloved children, Anna Tucker and husband Norm of Connecticut, Virginia Yule and husband Dick of Pennsylvania, John Mayton and wife JoAnn of Mohawk, Paul Mayton and wife Cheryl of Mohawk, Evelyn Archer and husband Lewis of Mohawk, Daniel Mayton and wife Sharon of Mohawk, Margaret Gerhartz and husband David of Palatine Bridge, Dorothy Robellard and husband Ron of Mohawk, Martin Mayton and fiance Joy of Dolgeville, Steven Mayton and wife Laurie of Arizona, Thomas Mayton and wife Janice of Mohawk, one brother Joseph Holovitz of Ilion, one sister, Anna Kubecka of Mohawk and a sister in law, Betty Sterusky of Herkimer, 31 cherished grandchildren and 50 cherished great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and 5 cousins in Europe. Also surviving is a beloved friend, Glenn Sperl of Mohawk. Visitation at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. Mary's funeral will commence at 10:15 am on Monday morning, May 12, from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered thence to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Gansevoort St., Little Falls for an 11 o'clock service with the Rev. Carl Evans, pastor officiating. Procession will follow to Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls where Mary will be laid to rest.
