Obituary of Archibald McGowan

Mr. Archibald H. "Archie" McGowan, age 79, a lifelong Ilion resident, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday morning, May 20, 2003 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital, New Hartford after a long illness. Mr. McGowan was born on March 20, 1924 in Ilion, a son of the late Archibald Kent and Edna (Brand) McGowan. He was raised and educated in Ilion and was a graduate of Syracuse University. He was married to the former Juanita (Marie) Hopper in 1948. Mr. McGowan served his country for 30 years with the United States Army. He leaves his wife Marie of Ilion, two daughters, Kathy Crewell and husband Ronald of Mohawk and Shelley Day and husband Christopher of Ilion, three sisters, Janet Irish and husband Hugh of Idaho, Jean Ford and husband Dexter of Saratoga and Barbara Sweeney of Ilion, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr.McGowan's funeral service will be privately held at the convenience of the family in Frankfort Hill Cemetery. Kindly consider contributions in honor of Archie to Ilion Ambulance.
