Obituary of Ida Parese
Mrs. Ida Parese, a longtime resident of Mohawk, formerly of Herkimer, entered into eternal rest, peacefully, on Friday evening, December 26, 2003 at Valley Health Services. She was born on May 1, 1914 in St. Joseph De Orleans, Canada, a daughter of the late Alfred and Arlize (Scanlon) Frechette. She joined in marriage with Fred LaFontaine who predeeased her. Mrs. Parese was married to Frank Parese on June 25, 1935 in Herkimer, who preceaded her in death. Ida was employed at Univac where she spent 25 years, retiring in 1976 after many years of hard work. During her free time she enjoyed the company of her wonderful family and friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother with an outstanding sense of humor. Ida was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxillary Post #4915. She leaves behind two sons, Thomas Parese of Walnut Cove, NC, and James Parese and wife Susan of Largo, Fl., three sisters, Bernadette Orendorf and husband Gerald of Mohawk, Florida Ruffalo of Herkimer and Louisa Servadio of Herkimer. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one daughter Theresa M. Staring, a son Frank Parese, Jr., five brothers, Hector, Octave, Rene, Leon, and Mendoza Frechette and three sisters, Alma Lafebrve, Rosa Sassone, and Lucille DePietro. The family received relatives and friends from 8-9 am this morning at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer. Ida's funeral will be held on Monday morning at 9 am, from the chapel of the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home where prayer will be offered, thence to Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, South Main Street, Herkimer where her mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am by the Rev. Robert Shinos, Pastor. She will be laid to rest this spring in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. Kindly consider contributions in honor of Ida to Catholic Charities or to the Little Falls Children's Fund.
